The Weasley twins might not be the most important characters in the Harry Potter series, but I think we can all agree that they’re among the funniest!
From their attempts to cheer up Ginny in Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets to the time they transformed Ron’s beloved teddy bear into a giant spider, the Weasley twins are responsible for some of the most hilarious, iconic and memorable moments in the entire Harry Potter series! For my latest post on The Blog That Must Not Be Named, I’ve decided to look back at some of Fred and George’s most memorable moments and rank their greatest pranks from worst to best!

10. The Time They Stole The Marauder’s Map
Fred and George’s theft of the Marauder’s Map proves that the duo were hilarious trouble makers from the very beginning. During their first year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardy, the Weasley twins set a Dungbomb off to distract Argus Filch, giving them just enough time to sneak into his office and steal the Marauder’s Map.
9. The Time They Pushed Montague Into The Vanishing Cabinet
At number nine is a prank that actually crosses a line, even for the Weasley twins. When Graham Montague, a member of Umbridge’s Inquisitorial Squad, attempts to take house points from Fred and George, the twins shove him into the Vanishing Cabinet before he can finish speaking. This is undeniably hilarious, but I can’t help but wonder where Montague ended up.
8. The Time They Hit Quirrell With Snowballs
At number seven is the time Fred and George bewitched snowballs to bounce off the back of Quirrell’s turban, showing how little the twins respect authority. This prank is particularly hilarious when you think that Fred and George were actually hitting Voldemort in the face.
7. The Time They Turned Neville Into A Canary
Flying in at number seven, it’s the time Fred and George hexed the custard creams to create some of their iconic Canary Creams. After helping himself to some of the Canary Creams (thinking they were ordinary custard creams), Neville transforms into a giant Canary before moulting, turning back to normal and laughing with everyone else.

6. The Time They Tried To Cheer Up Ginny
While the sixth prank on this list isn’t exactly their most imaginative escapade, it’s easily one of my favourite Weasley twin pranks! In an attempt to cheer up a traumatised Ginny, Fred and George take it in turns covering themselves in fur or boils and jumping out from behind different statues.
5. The Time They Tried To Trick The Goblet Of Fire
At number five, it’s the time Fred and George tried to out-smart Albus Dumbledore and enter their names into the Goblet of Fire. While things didn’t exactly go to plan for the Weasley twins, their failure is one of the books/movies most entertaining moments!

4. The Time They Turned Ron’s Teddy Into A Terrifying Spider
Coming in at number four is the prank that proves more than any that Fred and George weren’t always the best big brothers. For perhaps their cruellest prank, Fred and George turn Ron’s adorable teddy bear into a giant, hairy spider, which sparks Ron’s immense fear of the eight-legged monsters.
3. The Time They Created A Portable Swamp
In the number three spot, I’ve decided to go with the time Fred and George transformed the fifth-floor corridor, which is where Umbridge’s office was located, into a swamp. This prank is especially entertaining due to the fact that Umbridge was unable to undo the spell, even after the twins exited the school.

2. The Time They Gave Dudley A Ton-Tongue Toffee
The Weasley twins wouldn’t be the Weasley twins if they hadn’t played a hilarious prank on the Dursley’s. Coming in at number two, I’ve got the time Fred and George “accidentally” dropped one of their ton-tongue toffee sweets, which resulted in Dudley’s tongue growing to four-foot-long before Arthur Weasley was able to fix it.
1. The Time They Ditched Hogwarts For Good!
You’re probably not surprised to find that Fred and George’s epic and elaborate exit from Hogwarts is in my number one spot! Deciding that they’ve had enough of Umbridge and her reign of terror, the twins pull-off the ultimate prank, setting of their entire supply of wildfire whiz-bangs and sending fireworks of all varieties soaring through the corridors.
