Now that the third Fantastic Beasts movie has officially begun filming in London, it’s time to discuss what we want to see in the next instalment of the Wizarding World franchise!

While we know that the third Fantastic Beasts movie, which still doesn’t have an official title, will bring back the majority of the main cast and take place largely in Rio de Janeiro, there’s still plenty that we don’t know about the next instalment of the Wizarding World franchise!

From more magical beasts and long-awaited reunions to an epic-scale wizarding war, the third Fantastic Beasts film has the opportunity to delve into new territory for the Harry Potter franchise, and here are ten things I hope to see!

Take a look at the list below:

10. Less Connections To Potter

The Fantastic Beasts franchise is a part of the Wizarding World, so it would be ludicrous to suggest that the third film should remove all connections to Harry Potter. I do, however, believe that the franchise will find more success by doing its own thing and staying away from massive Potter crossovers.

9. Queenie’s Twist

Possibly the biggest twist in The Crimes Of Grindelwald was Queenie’s decision to side with the villainous Grindelwald. I feel it’s important for the third movie to delve into Queenie’s decision and possibly show how conflicted she feels about leaving everything, including Jacob and Tina, behind.

8. Tina, Newt & Jacob Working Together

The Crimes Of Grindelwald had more than a few issues, but arguably the biggest was the decision to have the characters spread out for a large chunk of the movie. In the third Fantastic Beasts film, I hope that we get to see Newt, Tina and Jacob working closely together, much like they did in the first movie.

7. More Beasts…Obviously

The series is called Fantastic Beasts, after all. While the third movie in the franchise obviously has to explore the larger story and set-up the coming wizarding war, it’s also important to bring Newt’s beasts into the film and introduce more of these magical creatures!

6. Aurelius Dumbledore Explanation

The Crimes Of Grindelwald ended with a pretty mind-blowing cliffhanger, when Grindelwald revealed to Credence that his true name is Aurelius Dumbledore. Since the film landed in cinemas, fans have speculated about the truth of Grindelwald’s reveal, and I’m hoping this is explored and explained fully in the third Fantastic Beasts film.

5. A Closer Look Into The Relationship Between Dumbledore And Grindelwald

Fans of the Harry Potter series will already be aware that Dumbledore and Grindelwald have an extremely interesting and exciting history, with the two friends/lovers eventually going their separate ways. While The Crimes Of Grindelwald touched upon Dumbledore’s relationship with Grindelwald, I hope the third film goes the extra mile and gives us a good look at their troublesome history.

4. A Proper Wizarding Battle

The Harry Potter series is responsible for some of the most exciting and badass battle sequences in cinematic history, but so far the Fantastic Beasts franchise has struggled to deliver a truly exceptional battle sequence. For the third film in the series, I truly hope David Yates gives us a wizarding battle worthy of the franchise.

3. More Hogwarts!

Every Potterheads dream came true when The Crimes Of Grindelwald returned to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, and it was a true delight to see the iconic castle back on the big screen! It may be greedy of me to say, but I’m personally hoping that we can once again return to Hogwarts in the third Fantastic Beasts film and beyond!

2. A Darker Tone

Over time the Harry Potter movies grew to become darker and more mature, ageing with the young audience. While the first two Fantastic Beasts movies have shown flickers of that darker tone, the films have mostly stick with a more child-friendly and lighthearted tone. With the third movie in the Fantastic Beasts series, I hope to see the franchise enter darker territory as we near the coming wizarding war.

1. Dumbledore vs. Grindelwald

While The Crimes Of Grindelwald did a good enough job of teasing the relationship between Dumbledore and Grindelwald, I can’t help but hope we see some kind of conflict between the characters in the third movie. As two of the most powerful wizards alive, it’s completely understandable to wonder what a battle between Dumbledore and Grindelwald will look like.
