Fantastic Beasts: Mads Mikkelsen In Talks To Replace Johnny Depp As Grindelwald

According to Deadline, James Bond and Star Wars actor Mads Miklelsen is being considered to replace Johnny Depp as the villainous Gellert Grindelwald in the Fantastic Beasts franchise!

The report from Deadline states that Mikkelsen is director David Yates’ top choice to play Grindelwald and the actor is reportedly in “early talks” with the studio.

If chosen to play Grindelwald, Mikkelsen will replace Johnny Depp in the Harry Potter prequel series, following the news that Depp has walked away from the franchise. Taking to Instagram last week, Depp revealed that he has resigned from the Harry Potter prequel series at the request of the studio. Warner Bros. later announced that they are looking to recast the role for the third film in the series, which is currently in production.
