J.K. Rowling’s beloved Harry Potter series ended in epic fashion, with The-Boy-Who-Lived heroically defeating Lord Voldemort and saving the Wizarding World! The series may be over but the characters are very much alive in the minds and hearts of everyone who loves them, and it’s completely natural to wonder what happened to your favourite Harry Potter character after the shocking events of Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows!

Thankfully for fans who can’t seem to let the Harry Potter series go, and I include myself in that category, J.K. Rowling has revealed a great deal of information in the years since the final book was released. Over the course of the next few weeks, The Blog That Must Not Be Named will be looking at every major Harry Potter character, and discussing what happened to them after the events of The Deathly Hallows. We’ve already discussed what happened to Harry, Ron and Hermione after the events of the last book, so now it’s time to look at another Hogwarts hero, Neville Longbottom.

So, what happened to Neville Longbottom after the events of the final Harry Potter book/movie?

After the end of the second Wizarding War, Neville joined Harry Potter and Ron Weasley at the Ministry of Magic as an Auror (dark wizard catcher). The young wizard only held the position for a short time, however, as he was later offered a position at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry as a Herbology professor.

Neville was a hero to many of the students at Hogwarts, and he would often share his experiences as a member of Dumbledore’s Army and show-off his Dumbledore’s Army coin, which he and the other members kept as keepsakes. Neville married Hufflepuff student Hannah Abbott, who was also a member of Dumbledore’s Army. For a time, the couple lived above The Leaky Cauldron, where Hannah worked as the landlady. While the pair never had any children, it is believed that they live an extremely happy life.

After the events of the last book/movie, Neville stayed in touch with Harry, Ron, Hermione and the rest of Dumbledore’s Army, and he was eventually named as the Godfather to Harry and Ginny’s second child, Albus Potter.
