Now that the third Fantastic Beasts movie is finally in production, we’re eagerly waiting for any news or details, which is why we were thrilled to see that Jude Law, who portrays Albus Dumbledore in the series, sat down (virtually at least) with GQ to break down his most iconic roles.
It would be impossible for the actor to discuss his most iconic roles without talking about Albus Dumbledore, and while he only briefly mentions his work on Fantastic Beasts 3, it’s exciting to see how much Law seems to appreciate the history of the character.
Here’s what the actor had to say about playing Dumbledore:
“I mean, an awful lot of his past is hinted at and referenced in the books of Harry Potter. She [J.K. Rowling] filled in a lot of gaps that weren’t mentioned in the books. She also gave insight and a sense of where he was going and what we hope to explore in future films. I’m actually in the process of making the third Fantastic Beasts at the moment, and that’s exploring his past in a little more detail.”

Appearing as Albus Dumbledore for the first time in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald, Jude Law only had a small number of scenes as the legendary wizard. While nothing about the third movie is clear yet, fans are very much expecting Dumbledore to have a larger role in the series moving forward.
The third Fantastic Beasts film is once again directed by David Yates, who also directed a number of Harry Potter movies, and is based on a screenplay by author J.K. Rowling along with Steve Kloves. Eddie Redmayne, Jude Law, Katherine Waterston, Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol, Ezra Miller, and others are set to return.
The film will finally land in cinemas in 2022!
