J.K. Rowling’s beloved Harry Potter series ended in epic fashion, with The-Boy-Who-Lived heroically defeating Lord Voldemort and saving the Wizarding World! The series may be over but the characters are very much alive in the minds and hearts of everyone who loves them, and it’s completely natural to wonder what happened to your favourite Harry Potter character after the shocking events of Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows!
Thankfully for fans who can’t seem to let the Harry Potter series go, and I include myself in that category, J.K. Rowling has revealed a great deal of information in the years since the final book was released. Over the course of the next few weeks, The Blog That Must Not Be Named will be looking at every major Harry Potter character, and discussing what happened to them after the events of The Deathly Hallows. We’ve already discussed what a handful of major Harry Potter characters got up to after The Deathly Hallows, so now we figured it was time to look at one of the most complex characters in the series, Draco Malfoy.
So, what happened to Draco Malfoy after Harry Potter?
As fans of the Harry Potter series will no doubt know, Draco Malfoy was extremely torn between the light side and the dark. While he attempted to kill Albus Dumbledore and participated in a number of Death Eater activities, he never fully sided with them and sat on the fence until the very end of the series. After Harry saved his life during the Battle of Hogwarts, Draco’s eyes were somewhat opened to the truth, and he began to see that his views on muggle born witches and wizards were extremely flawed. After all, the people Draco was raised to hate showed him a great deal of kindness and in Harry’s case, saved his life.
While Draco and his parents were never imprisoned for their role in the second Wizarding War, the young wizard carried the weight of his actions with him for the rest of his life. He eventually married Astoria Greengrass, the younger sister of Slytherin student Daphne Greengrass. Together they had one son: Scorpius Hyperion Malfoy.
Harry and Draco formed a civil relationship following the defeat of Lord Voldemort, as we saw in the epilogue, but the pair never became friends.
