J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series is full of colourful, complex and wonderfully terrifying characters, but Albus Dumbledore is quite easily one of the best that the series has to offer! 5 – His Favourite Flavour Of Jam Is Raspberry
In Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince, Dumbledore amusingly reveals to Harry that his favourite flavour of jam is raspberry. This unique fact is handed over so that Harry can properly and safely identify Dumbledore in the future.
4 – He Was A Hogwarts Prefect and Head Boy
It was clear almost immediately that Dumbledore was going to be a great wizard, and he excelled in all of his subjects at Hogwarts. Following his death, we discover that Albus Dumbledore was, in fact, a Hoigwarts Prefect and Head Boy.
3 – He Was Buried At Hogwarts
Following his heartbreaking death in Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince, Harry, Ron and Hermione attend Dumbledore’s funeral – along with some of the Wizarding World‘s most important figures. Dumbledore is the only wizard to be buried on the grounds of Hogwarts.
2 – He Cared For Harry Too Much
In Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix, Dumbledore tells Harry that he cares for him more than he could have ever expected. He reveals that he made an “old man’s mistake” in caring for Harry, because it stopped him from passing on vital information about the prophecy and Harry’s destiny.

In Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows, we discover a great deal about Dumbledore’s shockingly dark past. It is revealed that in his youth, Dumbledore was seduced by power and the belief that wizards were superior. At this time, Dumbledore became infatuated with Gellert Grindelwald – and together their obsession with power led to the death of Dumbledore’s younger sister, Ariana.
