The Blog That Must Not Be Named is sad to report that Helen McCrory, who portrayed Narcissa Malfoy in the Harry Potter film series, has passed away at age 52.
McCrory is well-known for many of her stage and screen achievements. As well as her role in the Harry Potter movies, McCrory appeared in massively successful films such as Skyfall and the The Queen. The actress is also known for her role as Aunt Polly in the incredibly popular series Peaky Blinders, as well as her recent role voicing daemon Stelmaria in BBC and HBO’s His Dark Materials adaptation. McCrory received an Olivier nomination in 2006 for her portrayal of Rosalind in Shakespeare’s As You Like It. In 2017 the actress was awarded an OBE for services to drama.
McCrory’s husband, Damian Lewis, revealed that the actress passed away peacefully at home with her family “surrounded by a wave of love.” He revealed that McCrory had been fighting a private battle with cancer.
