Warner Bros. Wants To Develop More Original ‘Harry Potter’ Projects

Warner Bros. CEO Ann Sarnoff has revealed that the studio is very interested in expanding the Wizarding World franchise and would “love” to develop more original Harry Potter series.

“We would love to develop more original Harry Potter series, and we regularly talk to JK Rowling and her team,” Sarnoff said at a conference hosted by Bloomberg (via The Hollywood Reporter). “It’s got to be right though. Whatever we do has to be true to the canon, and true to the ethos of the Wizarding World, and who Harry is.”

Warner Bros. produced all eight Harry Potter film adaptations, as well as the Fantastic Beasts prequel series. The next instalment of the Wizarding World franchise, Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets Of Dumbledore, will land in cinemas in April 2022.

There were rumours earlier this year that Warner Bros. had started to develop an original Harry Potter television series for HBO Max. Since the rumours landed in January, however, there have been no more reports about the project.

While it’s not clear what lies ahead for the Wizarding World franchise, aside from the remaining Fantastic Beasts films, fans still have plenty to look forward to in the near future. Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return To Hogwarts, a Harry Potter cast reunion special, will be available to stream on HBO Max on New Years Day.
