Legendary composer John Williams is returning to the galaxy far, far away!
Variety has reported that John Williams, who composed the scores for nine Star Wars films, has returned to write a new theme for the upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi series on Disney Plus.
Williams reportedly recorded the theme for the Obi-Wan Kenobi series, which will see Ewan McGregor return as the fan-favourite Jedi, in Los Angeles last week. This will be the first time that Williams had worked on a Star Wars project since Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker in 2019.
This will be the first time that Williams has contributed to a Star Wars television series, as both The Mandalorian and The Book Of Boba Fett featured music from different composers. It’s unclear if Williams has re-worked one of his existing Obi-Wan themes from the original trilogy or the prequels, or if he has created an entirely new theme for the Obi-Wan Kenobi series.
Williams’ music is often regarded as an essential part of the Star Wars franchise, so fans will undoubtedly be excited to hear a new theme from the legendary composer. Outside of his work in the Star Wars universe, Williams has created countless iconic themes for movie franchises, including Jurassic Park, Harry Potter, Indiana Jones and more.
Obi-Wan Kenobi is set to premiere on Disney Plus on May 25, 2022!
