After days of speculation, Hugh Grant has finally addressed those Doctor Who rumours.
Earlier this week, rumours began to spread that Hollywood actor Hugh Grant (Notting Hill, Love Actually) was “in talks” to portray the next regeneration of The Doctor, replacing Jodie Whittaker in the role. The actor has since taken to social media to address the rumours, stating that he will not replace Jodie Whittaker in the next season of Doctor Who. The actor took to Twitter to deny the rumours, saying: “Nothing against Dr W but I’m not. No idea where the story came from.”
It’s not exactly clear where the rumours came from, but they stated that Grant would appear in what was described as a Marvel-like reboot of the hit BBC series. Ratings for Doctor Who have declined in recent years, which will likely force the BBC to take the show in a new direction for the upcoming season.
This isn’t the first time that Hugh Grant has been connected The Doctor. The actor was offered the iconic role in 2004, when showrunner Russell T Davies rebooted the show.
