‘Ms. Marvel’ Season 1 Review

Ms. Marvel, the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s latest television offering, has finally arrived on Disney Plus. Bringing new characters, new stories and a refreshing tone to the MCU, Ms. Marvel will surely prove to be a must-watch for all fans of the franchise.

Now available on Disney Plus, Ms. Marvel is an entirely new adventure in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The show introduces audiences to Kamala Khan—a 16-year-old Pakistani-American growing up in Jersey City. A great student, an avid gamer and a voracious fan-fiction scribe, she has a special affinity for superheroes, particularly Captain Marvel. But Kamala struggles to fit in at home and at school—that is, until she gets super powers like the heroes she’s always looked up to.

Now that the series has landed on Disney Plus, with the first episode available now, I have decided to do a weekly mini review of each new episode – just like I’ve been doing with Obi-Wan Kenobi. If you look below, you’ll find my reviews of every episode of Ms. Marvel. I will update this post each week when a new episode is released.

Episode 1: “Generation Why”

Ms Marvel gets off to a brilliant start, with an exciting, wholesome and visually vibrant first episode. Newcomer Iman Vellani proves that she was the perfect choice to play Kamala Khan, offering one of the MCU’s most refreshing and charming performances to date. Perhaps the most exciting thing about the premiere, however, is the fact that Kamala’s human journey remains at the centre of the show – even when the more Marvel-ous elements come into play.

Episode 2: “Crushed”

The second episode of Ms. Marvel delivered a charming, relentlessly fun and unique ride in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

As we learn more about Kamala’s family and her mysterious new powers, the series continues to invest in the more personal elements of the story. The episode does a great job of pushing the narrative further and introducing exciting new characters, while staying tightly focused on Kamala’s personal journey and the internal struggle she’s feeling.

This was another great episode and I can’t wait to see what’s in store with next weeks new adventure. We’re starting to delve deeper into the cosmic side of the story and I’ve got a feeling that something special is on the way.

Don’t forget to come back next week for our review of episode three! Are you enjoying the series so far? Let us know in the comments section below this post!
