Just days after Marvel Studios announced Avengers: The Kang Dynasty at San Diego Comic-Con, it has been revealed that Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings filmmaker Destin Daniel Cretton will direct the film.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Cretton has been selected to helm the next Avengers movie – which will close out Phase 6 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Not much is known about Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, but we do know that the film will largely focus on the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s next “big bad”, Jonathan Majors’ Kang the Conquerer.
Avengers: The Kang Dynasty isn’t the only Marvel project Cretton is currently working on. The director is also developing a sequel to Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings for the studio, as well as a live-action Wonder Man series. Marvel Studios is currently looking for someone to write the screenplay, but we imagine it will be some time before work begins on the film. Avengers: The Kang Dynasty isn’t scheduled for release until May 2, 2025, with another new Avengers movie, Avengers: Secret Wars set to land later in the year on November 7, 2025.
