Aquaman and Batman are reuniting, and it feels so good! Aquaman star Jason Momoa has officially revealed that his Justice League costar Ben Affleck will appear as Bruce Wayne/Batman in Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom.
Momoa made the announcement on his Instagram account, after fans on a Warner Bros. bus tour spotted Affleck on the Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom set. Mamoa included a caption sharing his excitement to for Ben Affleck’s return. “REUNITED bruce and arthur. love u and miss u Ben WB studio tours just explored the backlot alright. busted on set all great things coming AQUAMAN 2 all my aloha j”
This will come as a surprise to DC Comics fans, as Affleck seemed to be done with the role. Following the poor critical reception to Batman v Superman and Justice League, Affleck dropped out of writing/directing his own Batman movie and announced that he was done with the role. The actor later signed on to appear in The Flash with Ezra Miller, which fans assumed would be his final time playing Batman. It seems the actor has decided to stock around as the DCEU’s Batman, however, as the actor will reprise the role in Aquaman And The Lost City.
Aquaman And The Lost City is directed by James Wan, who also helmed the first instalment. The film stars Jason Momoa, Ben Affleck, Patrick Wilson, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Temuera Morrison, Dolph Lundgren, and Nicole Kidman. Amber Heard was also set to reprise her role as Mera, however reports claim that the actress may have been cut from the film following the result of Johnny Depp’s defamation case.
Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom will land in cinemas on March 17, 2023.
